Establishment Parties Prevent Humane Abortion Amendments

Shockingly in recent weeks Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael, Labour and Sinn Féin voted against the following humane amendments to be included in the Abortion Bill:

  1. Pain relief for unborn babies in late term abortions. Babies in the womb respond to injury and research shows that pain and stress are experienced in late term abortions.

Fine Gael’s Ireland is not a good place to be a young mother or a child. In 2017 27 pregnant women were homeless. So far this year 10 pregnant woman have been forced into homelessness. The feminisation of poverty has accelerated under Fine Gael’s austerity governments.

3,267 children sleep in emergency accommodation, dozens of children lie daily on trolleys in overcrowded hospitals.

Sinn Féin Blunders on Repeal of the 8th

Sinn Féin seldom make too many tactical errors. Its leadership, not necessarily the one you see on the media, usually comes up with a formula to ensure that all eyes are kept on the prize of power, and all that goes with it. Dissenters are pulled into line or isolated.
